Named after bass player, Doug Buckley, "Doug's Point" received its title on the first day of the song's conception. The band were exploring two fast, grooving instrumental ideas, trying to find a smooth transition between them. Doug continued to reference one specific moment of the material for the band to start playing at, leading to "Doug's Point" becoming the working name for that cue. Eventually, when the song was separated from "Crawl's Pace" into its own song, this became the full title of the track. If you listen closely during the recording, you can hear the exhaustion and desperation of the boys trying to nail a take of DP after a long day of Sessions. You can't actually hear it but it was an uphill battle lemme tell ya. Prime example of counting sheep. Nick rips at the end.
